We know that you have been looking forward to Øya 2021 – so have we. Over the past months, we’ve held onto the hope that it would be possible to arrange a festival this year, but we are sorry to say that Øya will be unable to go ahead in 2021.

Tonje Kaada, general manager:
«It feels like a little nightmare to have to cancel Øya for the second year in a row. Our big wish over the past year has been to gather artists, the audience, festival workers, volunteers and partners for a unique festival experience in Tøyenparken, but it will not be possible with the guidelines that the authorities presented this week. There is too much uncertainty associated with the existing framework, and even the «best case scenario» with 5,000 people is not compatible with the audience experience Øya Festival wants to provide. We have no choice but to realize that it will not be happening in 2021. Even though we are sorry, it is a relief to be able to provide a clarification to everyone who has been waiting for it. We’ll roll up our sleeves and start over now. We are already in the process of planning 2022 and promise you the festival comeback of all time in Tøyenparken 10–13 August 2022!»

Now we’ll put all our focus and energy into the 2022 edition – our goal is to give you the very best version of the Øya Festival ever. Tickets go on sale on Tuesday May 18th, and the first artist announcement is just around the corner. As many will choose to transfer their already bought tickets to next year, there’ll be far fewer tickets available than usual. In other words, there’s no reason to hesitate if you long for the great Øya experience in 2022!

We would like to take this opportunity to thank our ticket buyers and fans for their patience. You mean everything to us. In addition, there are many others who we’d like to thank for their support and understanding, including our partners, suppliers, artists, hired workers, booking agents, Oslo’s live clubs and promoters and restaurants and so on.

We owe you the best Øya Festival ever in 2022.

Everyone who has bought tickets to Øyafestivalen 2020 and 2021 will have the opportunity to get these refunded, or to transfer the tickets to Øyafestivalen 2022. By transferring to next year, you will help Øyafestivalen to come back even stronger in 2022. Ticket sales for Øyafestivalen 2022 start May 18th at 9 a.m.

We will return to the details of refund and transfer by the end of week 20. Information will be published on oyafestivalen.no and sent out by e-mail to ticket buyers.

We are very much looking forward to seeing everyone 9th – 13th of August 2022. The first day is Club Day, with concerts in Oslo’s live clubs. The gates to Tøyenparken open on Wednesday 10th of August.

– take good care of each other, wash your hands and stay safe.
