Today the Norwegian authorities extended the ban on large events until 1st of September. It’s with a heavy heart that we must therefore announce that there will be no Øya festival in 2020. We had long hoped that the situation would normalize and that the summer could go ahead as planned, but the safety and wellbeing of fans, artists, our staff, event workers and suppliers is our most important consideration right now.

We know you were looking forward to it. So were we. This is an incredibly sad day for us, for artists, audiences, partners and everyone who eagerly awaited a fantastic festival week. Although it is painful to cancel, we are thankful that the authorities today have come up with clear long-term regulations that put health needs first.

It is challenging to work with art, culture and entertainment right now, but first and foremost our thoughts go to the many people who work day and night with matters of life and health, to those who otherwise keep the wheels going in our society, and most of all to everyone affected by the virus. We are all in this together as a society.

Tickets buyers will have the choice of a refund or, to transfer their tickets to next year’s event. By transferring your ticket to next year’s festival you will be helping Øyafestivalen to come back even stronger next year. We will get back to the details as soon as the practicalities are in place. Info will be published on oyafestivalen.no/en and sent to ticket buyers.

Now we’ll work together with artists, partners, suppliers and local authorities to make next year’s festival in Tøyenparken the best edition of Øya ever, for you, the best audience in the world! We would also like to take this opportunity to extend a huge thank you to everyone who has already signaled that they will join us next year, whether they are big partners or local enthusiasts and regulars. We look forward to seeing everyone and hearing lots of good live music in Oslo 11 – 14 August 2021.

In the meantime, look after each other, wash your hands and stay safe.
