Last Thurday, the Øyafestival accepted Matprisen – a new foodfocused award presented by Debio and ØQ – in the category “Best event”.
Environmental manager Ingrid Kleiva Møller is very happy about the award.
– I´d like to take this opportunity to thank all the amazing people that made this project possible! All our wonderful staff, chefs, restauranteurs and volunteers that have worked long days producing the best and most sustainable festival food in Norway, says Møller.
Over 95% of the food served at this years Øyafestival, was certified organic. This fed 500 artists, 2400 volunteers and 60 000 people visiting the festival. The food was made without any palm oil.
International Green Award
Earlier this month, Øya was awarded the highest category of the A Greener Festival Awards 2014. As the only Scandinavian festival – and one of nine festivals worldwide – we got ranked an “Outstanding” festival for the seventh year in a row.
– This award shows us that we are going in the right direction, and that the work we put into making the festival greener is important, says environmental coordinator Håvard Lundberg.
